Backing Aire: Reinventing Incontinence Wear

AngelCentral is thrilled to announce that our angel members have successfully funded a syndicate investment into Aire, a modern consumer brand reinventing incontinence care across Southeast Asia. Founded by Nivedita Venkateish, Aire is reshaping how ageing and incontinence are perceived – starting with adult pull-up pants designed for comfort, discretion, and confidence.

Incontinence care is emerging as a vital segment within the broader silver economy. With approximately 400 million people experiencing incontinence, including about 40% of Singaporeans, the demand for dignified, effective solutions is undeniable. Traditional incontinence products have been stigmatised and often poorly designed for Asian users. Aire is changing that narrative by offering lifestyles. This isn’t just about meeting a need – it’s about reframing ageing and changing perceptions, restoring confidence and independence to millions.

"When I first met Niv, I was impressed by her knowledge of the adult incontinence space and especially her commitment to disassociate "dependency and embarrassment" from "ageing" and simply from "incontinence". Ageing is a definite phase for all of us, and her approach to better the public perception of ageing is what attracted me initially to her business. Besides on a commercial level, adult incontinence is a huge category. Many of our members recognise this and hence we decided to invest in her together." Ms. Huang Shao-Ning who led the syndicate shared her rationale in this investment. Coincidentally, this is Ms. Huang's 50th angel investment, happening in the year she turns 50.

The idea for AngelCentral started in late 2016 as a community initiative by the Partners to share their personal experiences and lessons learned on angel investing. As they meet hundreds of startups annually, they decided to further value add via pitch sessions, where promising startups present and pitch to interested angels.

With the initial success and validation of their efforts in 2017, AngelCentral incorporated officially in February 2018 with the mission to build a community of effective angel investors in Southeast Asia.
